A few things I’ve learned the hard way you might find useful.

The GOAT

I am grateful for the odds breakers, the rule makers, the ones who are inspirational in all they do.

The ones who fall, but it’s not the fall that matters, it’s getting back up, going the distance, and not ever giving up.

The people who are so disciplined and have all of the work ethic to go and to keep going, because talent only gets you so far.

Just ask any elite athlete.

To be the best, you have to take that talent, own it, hone it, and make it into the unstoppable force that is greatness.

The thing about greatness is that puts you in the spotlight, where doubters, and pundits, and commentators make the judgments of armchair athlete.

“You suck. You could have run faster. You could have been better.”

The best use it as fuel, they let it drive their passion, make it the kindling for the fire that burns day in and day out.

I’m amazed at what happens to those who are doubted. It either crushes the people, or it lifts them up. But it’s not until you realize that it’s really the full circle you have to travel.

Here’s the circle of self esteem:

At first it’s what you think that matters.

Then it’s what other people think that matters.

Then it’s what you think other people think that matters.

When you finally come back to what you think, and that it’s the only thing that matters, you don’t care what other people think.

With experience you treat the accolades, and the detractors, the same. As the imposters they are.

You know what the truth is, and that is you are living the best life you can.

And really, that’s all you can do.

So go do it.
