Foundations
If you take a moment and stop and look at your view, your surroundings, your environment, what you will realize is your perspective will influence your outcomes.
When we flooded, and our home was destroyed, we had to move into another house for 6 months. That house was a much smaller house, and the view was only inward.
There was almost no backyard, no view out the windows except for our neighbor’s walls, and we were all crammed into a house we barely fit into as a family.
However when we moved back home, everyone was able to sleep in their own beds, get back to life as normal, and enjoy the view we have. It was an amazing gift to be able to experience that again.
This was a challenge we overcame as a family.
That made me realize there are challenges that people are facing, challenges that you are probably facing, and they are all difficult.
Believe it or not, everyone, everywhere, has challenges.
If you stopped any stranger on the street and said ‘I’m sorry you’re going through that right now.’ Everyone would wonder how you knew. How did you know they had a problem they were dealing with? Every. Single. Person.
So I want you to stop, take a moment, look up, and see how things are really going in your life.
Then, if there is a gap between where you are, and where you want to be, recognize that gap. Own that gap. Plan to overcome the distance between where you are and where you want to be.
Just like a pillar in the ocean, the tide comes and swirls around you. But when the storms come, are your foundations deep enough to fight off the waves? Or will your base be eroded and you’ll fall down?
Will you be able to support the pier above, or will it crumble under it’s own weight?
Will you be strong enough to overcome whatever it is that you’re facing? Whatever storm is happening to you?
Most of the challenges we face happen in your mind.
Reality is one thing, your perception of that reality is another.
So keep yourself whole, and build your foundations because they will get you through the storms that are inevitable in life.
