skills compound
We all have problems.
The interesting thing is in business, 99 times out of 100 the solution is there. Someone else has already solved it. You just have a skill deficiency in the fact that you don’t know how to solve it yet.
The solution to the problem is there. What to do next, is there. However, it’s not until you are forced to do something, that the need and desire is there to make you figure it out.
The cool think about skills is they compound, and the more skill you have, the more value you can provide.
Think of hockey.
If you can’t skate, nothing else matters.
If you can’t use a stick, then just skating isn’t enough.
If you can’t pass and shoot, just having a stick and skating isn’t enough.
If you don’t know where you should be on the ice, then being able to stickhandle, shoot, and skate isn’t enough.
If you don’t know how to play with others, then knowing where to be, knowing how to use the tools and skills, isn’t enough.
If you don’t know how to be coached, then everything else isn’t enough.
If you are missing any one of these things, the others can’t make up for it.
It’s the same in business. You need the fundamentals, to make all the success in the world possible for you. And just like sports, there are different levels, different skills required at those levels, and different people you’ll be playing with.
That’s pretty amazing to think about.
