The Roots
“You will stumble in the forest over the roots of trees, but keep going on the path and you will find your way.”
Even if you form the best habits, something will disrupt them. An injury that stops you from working out, even though you had committed to doing that every day. A late night with good friends that causes you to sleep through your alarm, and you don’t get a chance to do your morning routine. An unrealistic deadline that you set for yourself, and you miss it and become demotivated.
What I’m hoping you realize is everyone stumbles. There is no set path, and we’re all doing our best in this crazy world.
You will make bad choices (otherwise known as lessons), you will miss a day, here and there because of things beyond your control.
When something disrupts those habits, those good behaviours, take that moment as a reset. Simply accept that you stumbled, and it’s not the end of the world, and start the next day off right.
It’s pretty amazing what you can accomplish with steady, daily action. How far you can go by taking one step at a time.
You have a thousand months to live. That’s quite a while. If you use that time in a directed manner, you will achieve all your goals.
If you don’t know something, learn it. If you get presented with a lesson, pay attention, and grow.
Take all you’ve learned in the past, and bring forward all those lessons that will help you make your tomorrow a better one.
And most importantly, when you stumble over a root in the forest that has grown across your path. Get back up, keep going, and marvel over how far you’ve come.
