The Apprentice Mindset

As you start to take the first few steps on the  journey of discipline, you will find it uncomfortable.  It won’t seem right, and of course, you won’t see any immediate results.
The good news is if you just stick with it, your will to fight the inevitable will weaken.
The internal voice that wants you to stop, to be distracted, to do nothing will get quieter.
That’s a good thing because if you have faith, trust the process, and know that you have thought through how to get there, eventually you will.
Your days will be planned.  The way you spend your time will be allocated to striving towards your goal.
This is a necessary part of the apprentice mindset, and is one of the hardest things for me to do.  If you have the discipline to follow the rules at the beginning, to learn what needs to be learned, to understand what has worked for others before, you can be comforted in the fact that you will just get there somehow.
You will move forward despite yourself.
You know this.  You’ve already thought through what you need to do with my day, and how to spend my time.
The truth is you just have to do what is necessary, and the results you’re looking for will be a by-product of all that work.
The truth is there are some who are better, wiser, faster, smarter than you are, but if you take what you have, and apply what you know, in the way that you know will eventually accomplish your goals, then the results are inevitable.
It takes a bit of the mystery out of it, but that’s OK.  You will accomplish your goals.
