Pay the Price
Have you ever paused in the moment you are doing something, and realized you are going to regret it tomorrow?
That huge slice of cake? That drink that puts you over the edge? Yelling at that loved one for some perceived slight?
When I was younger, healthier, it was easy to do the things that hurt you then, and recover from them.
It was easy to drink too much, and not be hung over.
It was easy to eat unhealthy, feel like crap, but then go work out and feel better.
It was easy to do what I want and not think about the consequences, because the short term costs were low.
Now, the costs are greater.
I know if I don’t follow my routine, I’m going to have a rough day.
I know if I lose my discipline, it’s going to haunt me for a little bit. I know the price I’m going to have to pay, but the reality is, it’s hard.
It’s hard to be disciplined.
It’s hard to do the right thing now, that isn’t what you want to do, so you can be better tomorrow.
Let me give you the oldest thing you already know: If it was easy, everyone would do it.
Choose to be better tomorrow, and know you have to pay the price today. That’s just the way it is, and the sooner you’re good with that, the better your life will be!
