the life you focus on

What you experience in life is not the life you have, or the life you don’t think you have, it’s the life you focus on.
If you focus on the wonderful things in your life you should be grateful for.  The chair you sit in.  The warmth of your home.  The loving hug, then you will have an amazing life.
If you focus on what you don’t have, the gaps between where you are, and where you want to be.  The social media posts of others who are achieving amazing things.  The people who are living out their dreams, or appear to be, and you compare where you are to where they are, then you will be miserable.  You still have that same chair, that same warmth, that same love, and yet, somehow, it’s not enough.
And so, because of what you focus on, despite the exact same reality, your experience can be tremendously different.
Because of the stories you tell, you can either be enough, just as you are, or you can be found wanting.
Because of your self talk, you can be full of joy, or full of hate and despair.
I’ve found in my life, if I know a way forward, if I have a way forward, I can execute on it.  I spent 5 months banging my head against the wall in 2023, slowly falling into misery, depression, and anger, simply because I didn’t know what worked.
When I finally figured it out, I’m now full of optimism, joy and hope.
I know it will work.
I know what I’m doing will pay off in the end.
I know my time spent will be well spent, and I’m doing my best to spend the majority of my day, doing what I’m best at.
And I’m getting better.
The hours of practice every day, makes all the difference.
So if you’re frustrated, only see the bad, or the dark, or the failures, change your perspective.  You will get there.
