A few things I’ve learned the hard way you might find useful.

today is the tomorrow

Today is the tomorrow that I was so worried about yesterday.
We spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, even years worrying about this and that.  Planning for this and that.  What if this happens?  What if that happens?  And these things serve their purpose.  Planning for the worst, is great defence.  Planning for the worst makes the worst more bearable.
Could I have planned for a massive concussion?  Flood after flood?  A financial crisis?  A pandemic?  Market downturns?  AI?  Some of them I could see coming, and for one reason or another, I did nothing about them.
Other things I did do something about, and because of that, all is not lost.  So some downside planning served me well.  And as a leader, the buck stops here.
Because of that, I am where I am because of decisions I’ve made in the past.
Sometimes I put too much weight on my decisions.  That they are life and death.  That I’m worried about this and that, and all of the what-if’s.  Then, when I’m in the moment, I realize now is all there is.
How I’m spending now is the result of those choices, and those choices I make today, will influence my now tomorrow.
We worry so much about tomorrow.  What if we just let it go?  What if we just had some faith?  What if we paused for a moment, and were grateful for all that we have right now, and marvel at where we are?
Sure, we can strive for more, and in that striving, we become more.  We get closer to that amazing realization of our potential.
When we started on this earth, we were a screaming, crying bundle of potential.  And over time, the world beats us down.
Smashes the life out of us.  Takes away our youth, our hopes, and our dreams, but only if we let it.
So I’m grateful for being here.  For doing what I get to do.  For working with the people I get to work with, and making a difference in their lives.
It’s truly an amazing gift, today, and I’m thankful for all I’ve done, and the opportunities I’ve been given, to get here.
