A few things I’ve learned the hard way you might find useful.

the weighing machine

Life is a weighing machine, not a voting machine.
Sure, in the sort term you can take actions that will move you a little farther ahead.  You can take that shortcut, you can skimp on that investment of time or money, or you can half-ass that thing you’re doing.
But over time, if you don’t do what needs to be done, in the right way, it will eventually catch up to you.
If you are genuine, loving, caring, do the right thing, trust others, and have their best interests at heart, you will get back the same treatment you give out.
The opposite is also true.
If you mistreat, lie, steal, betray, and generally act in your own self interest all the time, you will get that back as well.
So rather than trying to time things, price them.
Instead of trying to get slightly ahead at the cost of your integrity, your beliefs, or what you know is right, take a step back.  Do the right thing.
It may cost you in the short term.  You may not get what you want right now, but over time life will pay you back.
People will love you for you, and it’s because of the person you are, the choices you make, that a good life will happen for you.
